Maria "Rita" Vasquez, 76, of Dimmitt passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Raj Arockia officiating, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Rosary and vigil to be Sunday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rita was born December 28, 1936 in Brackettville, Texas to Rosalio and Felicita (Avila) Falcon. She and her family moved to Dimmitt when she was sixteen and she graduated from Dimmitt High School. She was employed with the Dimmitt Independent School District for more than 20 years. She married Rafael Vasquez, Sr. in 1970. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time outdoors but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church of Dimmitt. She is survived by her son Rafael Vasquez of Dimmitt; 3 brothers Julian Falcon of El Paso, Salome Falcon of Ferris, Texas and John Falcon of Florence, Texas; 2 sisters Mary M. Gil of Dimmitt and Guadalupe Falcon of Garland, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rafael Vasquez, Sr. and 1 brother Thomas Falcon.
