Robert McLean, 72, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 2:00PM in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Coby Gilbreath officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home.
Due to the mandates that have been placed upon us during this time in relation to COVID-19 only (10) people are allowed in the funeral home at one time. The family has requested those friends and family members who may not be able to attend services to please sign the online condolence on the funeral homes website. The graveside service will be livestreamed through the funeral homes Facebook page beginning at 2:00PM on Thursday.
Robert Bruce McLean Jr. was born on July 29, 1947 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Robert Bruce McLean Sr. and Helen Eugenia (Wesson) McLean. Robert was raised in Dimmitt, Texas and graduated from Dimmitt High School, attended Kemper Military Academy and graduated from Hardin Simmons University. Robert worked in the family banking business as Vice President of First State Bank of Dimmitt for several years and then later began working for Rafter 3 Feed Yard for 30 years and then recently became the Municipal Judge of Dimmitt, Texas.
Robert enjoyed being an owner of several racing horses and spent lots of time in Ruidoso, New Mexico at Ruidoso Downs racing horses. But, most of all he will be mostly remembered as a loving father and grandfather and one who was always willing to attend all their sporting events.
Robert is survived by his children, Tracy Smothermon and husband Mark of Amarillo, Robert Burnett and wife Miquela of Dallas, Jade Sieradzki and husband Jeff of Gig Harbor, WA, J.R. McLean of Dimmitt and Jordan McLean and wife Christy of Big Lake, brother, Charles McLean of Amarillo, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Robert is preceded in Death by his parents and 2 granddaughters, Alexis Burnett and Dakota Grace McLean.
