Robert "Bobby" Gil, Sr., 56, a lifelong resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in Dimmitt. A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Abel Vargas, Jr. officiating. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Robert "Bobby" was born on February 26, 1967, in Dimmitt, Texas to Jose David Gil and Gloria (Allejos) Gonzales. He worked for Cargill for 18 years, and then as a janitor for Dimmitt Independent School District until retirement. Bobby loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Dallas Cowboys, cookouts with friends and family, drinking, and having a good time. He also enjoyed candy and snacks and they were always available. Bobby was funny, always smiling, gave the best hugs, and his door was always open. He loved his family dearly and the time spent with them, he was a great father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Gloria Gil, grandparents, Rebecca and Juan Vargas, and brother Fidencio Gonzales.

Those left to cherish his memories are his two children, Robert Gil, Jr. and wife Laura of Hereford, Texas, and Vanity LeAnn Gil of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Kristian Llamas, Brayan Llamas, La Bea Gil, Tru Gil, and Axton Gil; great-granddaughter Amaraa Llamas; siblings, Mario Moreno and wife Sulema of Dimmitt, Texas, Jean Lugo and husband Juan of Dimmitt, Texas, Lupe Gonzales and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Texas, Michael Gonzales of Amarillo, Texas, Andres Jr. Gonzales and wife Angie of Amarillo, Texas, Adrian Gonzales and wife Brenda of Amarillo, Texas, David Gil Jr., and wife Adela of Dimmitt, Texas, Leticia Gil of Abilene, Texas, Daniel Gil and wife Michelle of Dimmitt, Texas, Julian Gil and wife Cassie of Olton, Texas, Maria Coronado and husband Mario of Canyon, Texas, Melissa Gil and husband Fabian of Dimmitt, Texas, Debbie Gil and husband Mark of Friona, Texas, Dorothy Barrios and husband Raul of Dimmitt, Texas, Jose Gil III of Dimmitt, Texas, Yvette Ramirez and husband Marcus of Mesquite, Texas, and Diana  Maes and her husband Mark of Hereford, Texas; mother of his children Isabelle Ellis of Amarillo, Texas; step mom Maria Gil, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
