Ronda Lou Sanders Powers, lovingly named MoMo by her grandchildren, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Dimmitt, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her brother Charles Lee Sanders, sister Nita Kay Sanders, and twin sister Sondra Sue Sanders.  She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband, Jackie Dale Powers, son Shannon Powers and his wife Taryn along with his children Brantley and Sherridan; daughter Tonya Powers, Toby Gardner and her children Sage Reed, Alexandra Reed, Rileigh Reed, Rory Powers, and great granddaughter Libbi; son Raymond Powers and his wife Amanda as well as their children Brody and Maddox; Ronda's sister Sharla Ann Mays and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Ronda was born on February 16, 1943 in Reydon, Oklahoma to parents Clifton Leon and Oleta Mae Sanders and grew up watching her father on his horse.  When she was young she wanted to be a barrel racer.

She grew up in Dimmitt,Texas and met Jackie on the school bus in elementary school.  They would sit next to each other on the bus to and from school and their relationship blossomed.  They dated through high school and were married on March 11, 1968 when Ronda was 25 years old.  She passed away nine days shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

As a young couple starting out they lived in Vanhorn, Texas.  Jackie worked at a sofa plant and Ronda worked at the local telephone company.  Ronda loved taking her visitors to Carlsbad Caverns.  She went to work for First United Bank when Jackie found a job at Dimmitt Agra Industry, they then relocated to Dimmitt, Texas.  Once Ronda's two youngest children started school, she began driving the school bus to see them off to school.  She was always known to have gum in her pocket and a small photo album of her children to show everyone.

Ronda had a giving heart and loved to take care of others.  She had a large vegetable garden behind the Senior Citizen Apartment Complex and would offer her vegetables to everyone who lived there.  Later she continued to keep Jackie busy ordering flower bulbs for him to plant.  She enjoyed online shopping and if she saw something she liked, she would always buy two; one for herself and one to give away, even if she wasn't sure who it would go to yet.  Most recently, Ronda worked the night shift at Stripes Convenient Store and knew everyone that came in.  She was known for her orneriness and often made it her goal to raise the most money for that month's charity.  Ronda loved the color purple and at least 70% of her wardrobe reflected this.

As Ronda grew older, she enjoyed watching Westerns, Pioneer Woman, and American Ninja Warrier while her grandchildren played at her feet.  She had a talent for rocking the littlest grandkids to sleep when she would get ahold of them.  She loved taking pictures of her family and would often follow them out the door with the camera.  When she was unable to continue, she would send Jackie out the door with the camera.

The Powers Family would like to thank everyone who has helped us and supported us while caring for Ronda.  The entire hospital staff was superb, putting up with her antics with love and a smile, and the support of the community has been invaluable.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm at Church of Christ, 101 SW 4th Street, Dimmitt, Texas, on Saturday, March 17, 2018.  We ask that you wear purple to remember Ronda on March 17th and in lieu of sending flowers, please plant some in your garden to enjoy.
