Rubie Lu Lee, 90, of Longview, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Longview. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt, Texas with Pastor Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Rubie Lu Lee was born on June 24, 1929 in Tahoka, Texas to James Anson Coughran and Pearl Avis (McDaniel) Coughran. Rubie was a longtime resident of Dimmitt before moving to Amarillo and then later moving to Longview to live with her daughter, Darla. Rubie was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and member of the First Baptist Church in Amarillo and Dimmitt. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was, for a long period of time, the Sunday School Director over the Junior Department at the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt. Rubie owned a local café (The Place) in Dimmitt for several years, she was a real estate broker, and she was one of the first to develop computer programs for doctor's offices to use for their medical billing procedures. She always enjoyed a chance to go fishing and spending time in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Most of all, she enjoyed spending her time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She always told her all her children and grandchildren that she loved them to the moon and back.

Rubie is survived by 5 daughters, Darla Baggett of Longview, TX, Debbie Schumacher and husband Randy of Toronto, KS, Lori Beaver of Houston, TX, Bonnie Golino of Bradenton, FL and Julie Lee of Austin, TX, son-in-law Kent Lindsey, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Rubie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bill Lee, daughter, Teresa Lindsey, her parents, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
