San Juanita "Janie" Quintero, 68, formally of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Father Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño, and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will begin Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home with rosary being recited at 5:30 PM.

Janie was born August 10, 1952 in McAllen, Texas to Abel and Enedina (Esquivel) Quintero. She was a great big sister, and nurturer to all of her siblings, a cell phone and social media expert (in a funny way,) loved church, enjoyed word search books, French Vanilla Coffee, cooking, and loved her grandkids. She was always very friendly and excepting of anyone. No one was a stranger to her. Janie always wanted to please everyone and was extremely caring. She worked 14 special years at Castro County Nursing and rehab as a dietitian. She will be missed by many

She is survived by one son, Sgt. First Class Rudy Alaniz, United States Army and wife Frances of Ft. Belvoir, WA  one daughter, Lupe Prieto and husband Billy Duran of San Antonio, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her siblings, Mary Caballero of Abernathy, Sylvia Estrada and husband Humberto of Eldorado, Mary Elizabeth Tijerina of San Diego CA, Christina Quintero, Ninfa Velo and husband Jose all of Dimmitt, Melissa Carrizales and husband Francisco of Hereford, Abel Quintero, Jr. of Ft. Stockton, Tommy Quintero of Turlock, CA, Amos Quintero of Dimmitt, and Ruvaldo Quintero of Austin.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers in laws Joe Caballero and Albert Tijerina, Sr. and one niece Staff Sergeant Virginia Caballero.
