Sandy King Parson III, 83, of Lubbock formerly of Dimmitt passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be Monday, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Pastor Jonathan Sullivan officiating with burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family and friend visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-6:00PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Sandy was born June 15, 1932 in Wellington, Texas to Sandy Parsons II and Peggy Lois (McMillan) Parsons. He was raised in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1950. He learned to be a taxidermist as a young teenager and performed it throughout his life. He attended Texas Tech University and later joined the United States Army for 2 years. While in the Army he married Betty Ann Wright. After his time in the service he returned and attended school of pharmacy at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He and his family came to Dimmitt in 1960, where he established Parsons Rexall Drug. During his time in Dimmitt he married Margie Newton McGowan in 1972, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a member of the masonic lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, dancing and fishing. He is survived by two sons, Sandy Parsons IV of Amarillo and Paul Parsons and wife Maria of Lubbock and four daughters, Sherry McGowan of Mobil, Alabama, Donna Hathaway and husband Ronnie of Hereford, Deeanne Morgan and Vicki Aljoe and husband Kyle all of Dimmitt, one sister Mary Lockhart of Dimmitt. Twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sally Crelia and his two wives, Betty Parsons and Margie Parsons.
