Shellie Powell, daughter of Don and Glenna Cornett, was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 28, 1969, and departed this life August 31, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of fifty-three years. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 2:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home with Gary Weaks officiating. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 1:00PM – 2:00PM at the funeral home.
Shellie was raised in Silverton, Texas and then moved to Lubbock in 1986. She worked for Pediatric Associates of Lubbock for many years and then worked as a teacher's aide. During her spare time, she loved spending time with her friends. She was the proud owner of Sissy, her dog that she loved dearly. But most of all she loved her family and her two grandsons. She will be dearly missed by all.
Shellie is survived by her spouse, Jeff Powell of Lubbock, TX, son, Landon Lamb and wife Alexandra of Virginia Beach, VA, 2 brothers, Tad Cornett and wife Cindi of Lubbock, TX and Mike Cornett and wife Jackie of Dimmitt, TX, 2 grandsons, William Lamb, and Jackson Lamb, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kim McPherson and niece, Brooke Parker.
The family has requested memorials be made to United Services Organization (USO), 1604 Amphibious Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
