Sophia R. Hernandez, 93, of Hart, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Dimmitt, Texas.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at El Sendero De La Cruz with Pastor Roger Velasquez officiating.  Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  Viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Sophia R. Hernandez was born on October 28, 1923 in Coleman, Texas to Manuel Rodriguez and Delores (Cilos) Rodriguez.  Sophia was a longtime resident of Hart, Texas.  She was married to Epimnio Hernandez for many years prior to his death.  Sophia worked as a cook and a homemaker while raising her family.  She enjoyed gardening in her spare time but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Sophia is survived by her 2 sons, George Hernandez and wife Alice of Amarillo, TX, and Mario Hernandez and wife Betty of Hart, TX, 4 daughters, Paula Favela of Hart, TX, Janie Hernandez of Hart, TX, Irene Bundy and husband Benny of Colorado City, TX and Ester Anthony and husband Kelly of Bartlesville, OK, 1 sister, Elisa Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Epimnio Hernandez along with 5 brothers and 1 sister.
