Sotero V. Ramos, 83, of Dimmitt passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in the Abundant Life Family Church in Dimmitt, Texas with Joel Favela officiating.  Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  A prayer service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel located on 809 Butler Dr., Dimmitt, Texas.

Sotero V. Ramos was born on April 22, 1933 to J.D. Ramos and Guadalupe Ramos in Brackettville, Texas.  Sotero grew up in Brackettville and then married Delia Mochorro in Brackettville, Texas and they were married for almost 50 years before her passing in 2005. Sotero worked various jobs throughout his career but mostly worked as a minister in the prison ministry for several years.  He loved eating his barbacoa and his menudo while watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders, but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Sotero is survived by 11 children, Anna Kinder and husband Larry of Amarillo, Irene Acevedo of Amarillo, Irma Lucero of Amarillo, David Ramos and wife Martha of Dimmitt, Simon Ramos and wife Maria of Dimmitt, Sotero Ramos Jr. and wife Suzanne of Amarillo, Alice Perez and husband Vidal of Amarillo, Linda Mendoza and husband Beto of Amarillo, Richard Ramos and wife Jodi of Amarillo, Beatrice Ramos and husband David of Lubbock and Danny Ramos and wife Daisy of Amarillo, 4 siblings, Joel Guerra of Knoxville, TN, Sally Salazar of Madera, CA, Ramona Lopez of Dimmitt and Fred Ramos of Rock Springs, TX, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Sotero is preceded in death by his wife, Delia Ramos, sister, Alice Hinojosa and a brother, Raul Ramos.
