Thaylia J. Irons, 86, a longtime resident of Hart, TX died peacefully on July 2, 2011 in Dimmitt after a long illness. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00AM in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Mr. Earl Behrends and Jerry Kittrell officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family visitation will be on Monday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Thaylia was born on June 6, 1925 in Bethany, Nebraska to Carl and Vera Hill. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, quilt, crochet and paint. Thaylia was an active member of the Good Neighbor Club and one of the directors of the Senior Citizen Center in Hart. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Al Irons of Hart, 3 sons; David Irons and wife Karen of Claude, Kent Irons and wife Ginger of Abilene, and Bryan Irons and wife Jayne of Shallowater, 4 daughters, Vera L. Smith and husband John P. of Mena Arkansas, Connie Vestal and husband Ovis of Elgin, TX, Dixie Ward and husband Ronnie of Clarendon, TX and Roxana Welder of Hawley, TX. Thaylia was known as "Mema" to her 17 grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren and 3 Great-Great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Happy Hill, an infant son, Kenneth Irons, a granddaughter, Karen Smith, and 4 sisters Velma Schaff, Margaret Parsons, Jean Strodtman, and Evelyn Hill.
