Thomas Brooks, 79, of Hart, Texas passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas.  A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:30 AM the First Baptist Church of Hart with Bro. Kenny Venable officiating.  Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 form 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Thomas Brooks was born on April 9, 1941 in Lamesa, Texas to Paul Brooks and Irene (Welty) Brooks.  Thomas moved to Hart at a young age and graduated from Hart High School.  He began farming at the age of 14 and became a lifelong farmer in Hart.  On September 8, 1960, Thomas married Shirley (Venable) Brooks and they lived on the farm up until her passing.  Thomas served as a board member of the Hart of the Plains and was an avid collector of antique cars and tractors.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Sheila Fediuk of Eagle Nest, NM, Ronda Gilbreath of Eagle Nest, NM and Robin Brooks of Eagle Nest, NM, sisters, Neoma Williams and husband Don of Hart, TX and Sharon Shofner and husband Billy of Sparenberg, TX, grandchildren, Lauren Barber and husband Matt of Lubbock, TX, Austin Dudley and wife Amy of Morton, TX, Andrew Dudley of Amarillo, TX, Kyle Therwhanger and Liz Bailey of Lazbuddie, TX, Dustin Gilbreath of Irving, TX, Tanner Gilbreath of Conroe, TX and Ayden Brooks of Eagle Nest, NM, great-grandchildren, Seth Dudley, Silas Therwhanger and Claire Barber along with a host of beloved pets.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brooks, and daughter, Cindy Therwhanger.
