Thomas Chia, 70, of Edmonson passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 in Edmonson. Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 10:30AM in St. John's Catholic Church in Hart with Rev. Raj Arockia as celebrant. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited at 6:30PM in St. John's Catholic Church on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Thomas was born on June 12, 1943 in Jalisco, Mexico to Rodrigo and Leanor Hernandez Chia. He was a farm laborer for many years and enjoyed raising livestock and working in his garden. He married Patricia Tenorio on June 14, 1982 who preceded him in death on December 23, 2012. He is survived by 5 sons, Jesus Chia of Mission, TX, Thomas Chia Jr. of Lubbock, TX, Manuel Chia of Olton, TX, Antonio Chia and Gabriel Chia both of Hart, 6 daughters, Sonia Peralez of Idalou, TX, Vanessa Chia Gutierrez of Lubbock, Josephina Chia of Hale Center, TX, Delia Chia of Plainview, TX, Victoria Cabral of Olton, TX, and Martha Chia of Mexico, 27 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Thomas is preceded in death by his spouse, Patricia Chia, his parents, 2 brothers, Jose and Gabriel Chia, 3 sisters, Josephina, Consuelo, and Socorro Chia.
