Tom Mullins, 75 years of age passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Dimmitt.

Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Abundant Life Family Church with Pastor Wayne Kniffen officiating.  Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the church located at 410 SW 2nd St., Dimmitt, Texas 79027

Pastor Tommy Lee Mullins, a devoted and selfless servant of his faith and community, passed away on April 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, humility and unwavering dedication. Born on May 11, 1949, in Albuquerque, NM, hard work and kindness was more than a value – it was a way of life.

Driven by a deep sense of duty and love for his country, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served in the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his strength, discipline, and lifelong commitment to serving others. He often spoke of his time in the Mobile Riverine Force, this time tested his courage and deepened his faith. That chapter of his life stayed with him always, and he carried that pride and sense of
purpose throughout his life.

After returning, he felt a calling to ministry, a path that allowed him to continue serving others, this time through faith, empathy, and leadership. He became a pastor not for recognition, but because he believed deeply in lifting others up and offering hope. His messages were that of grace and love, living every word he preached.

In 1990, he met his wife, Kay Mullins. Their connection was immediate and undeniable. A love that felt new and timeless. Their marriage was deep, steadfast, and a shining example to all who knew them. One of the most beautiful aspects of their love was how they embraced not only each other, but their children and families. Their blended family was a testament to the belief that family is built not just by blood, but by
a commitment that mirrored the deep love they have for one another. Together, they poured themselves into their community, building a strong and loving church family that became a cornerstone of their lives.

Tom was a constant presence in the town, faithfully driving around every Sunday morning, praying for its people. He made himself available to anyone in need, offering resources and support to those who came to him. He took on any role necessary, never hesitating to step in, often becoming a guiding presence for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing love and wisdom.

Those left to carry on his legacy are his wife Kay Mullins of Dimmitt, Texas; children, Rebecca Johnson (Josef) of Lubbock, Texas, Christina Howell of Plano, Texas, Paul Mullins (Tyler) of Amarillo, Texas, Jeremy Howell (Clarissa) of Dimmitt, Texas, Brandon Luera of Dimmitt, Texas, and Chelsey Sanchez (Shawn) of Ft. Stockton, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother Patrick Mullins (Lauramay) of Glendale, Arizona; and sister Jackie Green (Sam) of Baird, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fletcher Mullins and Billie Daniels, sister Donna Wilson, grandson Noah Garcia, and great grandson Andre Garcia.
