Troy L. Kirby, 92, of Dimmitt passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:00AM in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Sullivan and Rev. Paul Kenley officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Troy Kirby was born on July 1, 1927 in Mangum, OK to Ammar Temple Kirby and Jewel Edith (Young) Kirby. Troy met and fell in love with Billie (Armstrong) Kirby and they married on June 2, 1946. They moved to Dimmitt in 1959 where he worked as a barber for many years and then began working as a carpenter. He spent most of his time building cabinets and remodeling for many people throughout Dimmitt. Troy served on the city council for several years and was very involved with "Helping Hands" with the Baptist Church and was always willing to help anyone in need. He and Billie became members of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt in 1959 and he served as deacon for 54 years while also serving on many committees within the church. Troy will be most remembered by the love he had for his family and his church. Troy will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of  74 years, Billie Kirby of Dimmitt, TX, children, Keri Jack and husband Galen of Friona, TX, Bobbi Childers and husband Larry of Lubbock, TX and Kent Kirby and wife Whitney of Ft. Worth, TX, 2 brothers, Vade Kirby and wife Marie of Dimmitt, TX and Hulon Kirby and wife Doris of Sunnyvale, CA, 2 sisters, Joy Byers of Euless, TX and Una Shaw and husband Sid of Cushing, OK, 6 grandchildren, Kelly Jack and wife Teresa, Holly Noble and husband Justin, Jason Wooten and wife Carla, Rusty Wooten and wife Michelle, Callie Sanders and husband Mason and Berkley Allen and husband Calvin along with 8 great-grandchildren.
Troy is preceded in death by his parents, Ammar and Jewel Kirby and siblings, Clifford Kirby, Murl Carrell, Lavern Simmons, Twila Lester, Olan Kirby and Chester Kirby.
