Van Hopson, 64, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 in Dimmitt. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Pastor Guy Walker of the Barn Church and Todd McDaniel officiating with a Private Family Graveside following. Local arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
Van Hopson was born on September 10, 1955 in Hereford, Texas to V.C. Hopson and Dorothy (Dishman) Hopson. Van grew up in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1974. He was co-owner of Dimmitt Meat Company with his father for several years in Dimmitt where they were known for their Hopson Sausage. He married the love of his life, Carole Stewart on October 21, 1978 in Dimmitt. He later became a self-employed truck driver for 30 years hauling grain for Rafter 3 Feedyard. Van enjoyed music and playing his guitar, he was a shooting enthusiast, riding motorcycles with his forever friends while being a longtime member of the Top of the Hill Motorcycle Club, but most of all he enjoyed being around his family and cherishing those special moments. Van was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.
Van is survived by his spouse, Carole Hopson of Dimmitt, TX, 2 sons, Cody Fry (Kelly) of Weatherford, TX and Cory Hopson (Bree Fehr) of Amarillo, TX, 3 granddaughters, Taylor Fry, Berkley Fry, and Maddelyn Fehr, 1 grandson, Marshall Fehr, 2 sisters, Susan Owens of Hereford, TX and Cindy Lilley of Round Mountain, TX and mother-in-law, Jerrye Wooten (Rex) of Dimmitt, TX.
Van is preceded in death by his parents, V.C. Hopson and Dorothy Hopson.
