Vernon Daryl Hasley, 91, formerly of Dimmitt passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Amarillo. Vernon was born December 7, 1920 in Tornello, Texas to Noah and Lillian Hasley. He graduated high school from Sudan, Texas. He entered the Air Force March 21, 1942 and was honorably discharged on September 9, 1945, while in the Air Force he served during WW II. He then graduated from Draughons Business School. He married LaRue Day on October 23, 1943 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He worked for Southwestern Public Service, Borden's Milk Company and Shamburger G. Lumber Yard in Tahoka. He was a business manager for several gins in the Sudan and Amherst area. He and LaRue have lived in Dimmitt for 50 years; he worked for Western Ammonia, which is now known as Good Pasture for 32 years as the office manager. Vernon was an avid gardener, a bee keeper and he loved to tinker with motors, he had his small engine license. He loved his computer, his birdhouses and he loved to play the steel guitar and tobro. He and LaRue were very involved with the Assembly of God Church in Dimmitt. Vernon and LaRue recently moved to Amarillo in February of 2012 to be closer to their children. Vernon is survived by his wife, LaRue Hasley, formerly of Dimmitt, 1 son, Randy Hasley and wife Carolyn of Amarillo, 1 daughter, Vernona Jan Howell and husband Gary of Amarillo, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Deborah Jones, and a great-grandchild.
