Violet Sharp, 88, formerly of Hart passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Hart with Rev. Donnie Brown officiating. Family visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Violet was born September 11, 1925 to Charles and Susie Turner in Boatman, Oklahoma and was the youngest of 13 children. Violet married Orval Sharp in 1946 and resided in Halfway with their two children. In 1961, they moved to Hart. She has been a resident of Hart for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart and worked in the nursery for many years and always enjoyed spending time with the children. She worked at the Hart I.S.D. for more than 35 years. She was a caretaker for several residents of Hart. She loved to bake apple pies, enjoyed gardening and being outdoors and canning vegetables. She was Woman of the Year for Hart, Texas in 1986 and also she was nominated Parade Marshall. Over the years, Violet loved helping at the Hart Golden Group. She is survived by a son Ken Sharp and his wife Linda and a daughter Carol Cottingham both all of Lubbock. 5 grandchildren Miranda and Christopher Sharp both of Lubbock; Brandon Cottingham and his wife Leslie of Lamesa; Ryan Cottingham and his wife Tara of Munday and Cody Cottingham and his wife Amber of Abilene. 7 Great Grandchildren Emily, Dustin, Eryn, Ali, Emma, Elise and Harley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orval Sharp and several brothers and sisters.
