Virginia Nelson, 70, of Dimmitt, TX, died Monday, August 25, 2014 in Dimmitt, TX. Family and friends visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 4th and Bedford Church of Christ in Dimmitt, TX with Mr. James Jones and Mr. King Burney, officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park, arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, TX. Virginia was born on October 29, 1943 in West Virginia to Emory Milton and Hazel Comer Shaw. She married Edd (Corky) Carson Nelson on November 4, 1961 in Slaton, Texas. Virginia was employed by Dimmitt Independent School District as snack bar manager or cook for 20 years. Her hobbies included gardening, growing green beans, tomatoes and flowers, she loved to paint, she also enjoyed making hot sauce. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. Virginia was a member of 4th and Bedford Church of Christ, she enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Gathers. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters: Dione Steffens and infant Leslie Camille Nelson, 2 brothers: Jimmy Shaw and Benny Shaw, 2 sisters: Peggy Blocker and Jean Byars.
