W.B. Bunch, 90, of Dimmitt passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 in Dimmitt. W.B. was born June 27, 1921 to William and Lena Stone Bunch in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He married Winona Collum on June 6, 1942 in Reno, NV. They were due to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary next June. He has lived in Dimmitt for over 40 years. He was drafted into the Army in December 1942. He served in England, France and Germany and was a WWII Veteran. He was discharged in 1945. He worked for Texas Telephone and Telegraph Phone Company in 1948, and then Contel Telephone Company. He and Winona moved from Lancashire, Texas to Dimmitt in 1964. He retired from the telephone company in 1981 after 33 years. He served as custodian for First Baptist Church for five years, as well as being a deacon and an "awesome greeter" for many years. After retirement, he and Winona were avid RVer's and made numerous trips to Mexico, Cloudcroft, MN and Lake Texoma. Many trips turned into large family reunions. He is survived by his wife, Winona Bunch of Dimmitt and one son David Bunch of Ruidoso, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
